Luv PARADE | Live-Report @ Shinjuku ReNY, Tokyo [JP] (2024)

Luv PARADE’s performance was a showcase of contrast – blending heavy and light songs that spanned Western pop covers with intense Japanese tracks. Their stage presence and appearance balanced cuteness with fierceness, embodying an interesting interplay of dark and bright elements

Luv PARADE brought their nationwide tour to a triumphant close at Shinjuku ReNY (Tokyo, Japan) on June 16, promoting their highly anticipated debut EP, JOKER, released on June 1 (detailed interview, HERE). This tour was particularly special, marking the first time the band performed with such a substantial set of original songs.
As the lights dimmed and anticipation built, Luv PARADE members took the stage, kicking off with the EP’s opening track, ENTER THE PARADE. The crowd instantly connected, clapping in unison to the rhythm, setting the tone for an unforgettable night. The band wasted no time diving into their set, headbanging and engaging the front rows right from the start. They visibly enjoyed themselves and relished being on stage together. Throughout the performance, the musicians made full use of the stage, moving to the edges and frequently swapping places. Guitarist Karyu maintained constant interaction with the audience, including the camera for the live stream audience, ensuring no viewer felt left out. His frantic moves were particularly impressive; moving his head up and down, side to side and still deliver precise guitar riffs. He dominated the stage with full force. Meanwhile, vocalist TAKA centered the performance, tirelessly urging the crowd to cheer and scream. His peak moment arrived during INSOMNIA (the Underneath), where his enchanting vocals were absolutely on point. Despite bassist ZERO having a plaster on his left foot from a recent injury, his performance was robust and unrestrained, earning him considerable admiration. He moved across the stage with fervor, interacting frequently with dedicated fans at the front. His bass lines anchored the band’s sound with powerful resonance throughout the set. Drummer TSUKASA delivered thunderous drumming from the back, maintaining a solid rhythm foundation while adding playful flourishes like sticking his tongue out and twirling drumsticks between beats. His dynamic presence complemented the band’s high-energy performance. Beyond their individual talents, the band’s strong camaraderie was evident throughout the show. They frequently played facing each other or shoulder to shoulder, highlighting their tight-knit bond on stage. On DEVILS’ PARADE (D’ESAPAIRSRAY), TSUKASA and Karyu shared nostalgic smiles while ZERO kneeled in front of TAKA, a signature move for this track. As the night progressed, the setlist grew heavier, the band’s energy became wilder. Luv PARADE’s performance was a showcase of contrast – seamlessly blending heavy and light songs that spanned Western pop covers with intense Japanese tracks. Their stage presence and appearance balanced cuteness with fierceness, embodying an interesting interplay of dark and bright elements.
As fans eagerly await Luv PARADE’s anticipated overseas tour, they can mark their calendars for two consecutive nights of electrifying performances in Tokyo this September. Scheduled for September 7 (Saturday) and September 8 (Sunday), these events have been dubbed RED NIGHT and BLACK NIGHT respectively. Each night promises a unique experience showing the band’s contrasting colors.

Been giving bass players their due lately, but J’s show at O-EAST hit like a sledgehammer. His energy was off the charts, but more than anything, I saw his philosophy come alive: keep the inner fire burning. Wake up. Move forward. Live it. 🔥

I filmed this on Feb 10, 2021, after our interview. We met again later at a show, and ISSAY offered me a drink. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized it had been his birthday. I still feel bad about it. But looking back, it says so much about who he was — a kind person.

Digging through our archives, we found a little treasure: ISSAY & HIKARU from DER ZIBET during a VMJ photoshoot after our interview with them.

Tomorrow marks three years since ISSAY’s passing.

Rest well. 🕊️

If you’d like to revisit his words, our interview with DER ZIBET is
