VMJ is a Tokyo-based media exploring the intersection of “sound and sight”. We provide a platform for visually-driven artists to share their untold stories through detailed interviews and other exclusive content.
VMJ is an independent English-language music publication based in Tokyo, Japan. We don’t cover music. We tell its stories — the ones that live behind the records and in the silences artists rarely share with anyone. Japanese rock, Japanese alternative and goth, and the Western artists connected that particular Japan’s scene. No press releases. No endless news cycle. Just honest, deep, unhurried conversations with artists who trust us enough to go somewhere real.
