Naomichi, the rising star who brought his erotico-rock vibes on stage

On the scorching afternoon of July 7th, as the city streets simmered in the Japanese summer heat, the atmosphere inside the venue crackled with anticipation. Naomichi, poised to command the stage, radiated elegance and femininity as he prepared to deliver his set. Many in attendance were adorned in traditional attire, perhaps in homage to Japan’s Tanabata festival celebrated on the same day. Naomichi’s performance began with a delicate fusion of acoustic guitar and soulful vocals, casting a spell of enchantment over the audience. The music took a spirited turn with rhetorical tracks Dracula and Super Fantastic, transitioning into a lively, groovy rhythm that had everyone swaying in unison. The venue was infused with a sultry blend of lounge vibes, wisps of smoke, and jazzy undertones, creating the perfect backdrop for Naomichi’s unique brand of erotic pop. His performance, laced with humor and engaging banter, kept the spectators enthralled and entertained throughout the set. For the finale, Naomichi brought a special guest musician to the stage, Suzuki Satoshi, the vocalist of Yeti (who performed later on the same stage). Their duet for the song Fly High was a real showcase of chemistry, leaving the audience yearning for more as the night passed in the blink of an eye.

Been giving bass players their due lately, but J’s show at O-EAST hit like a sledgehammer. His energy was off the charts, but more than anything, I saw his philosophy come alive: keep the inner fire burning. Wake up. Move forward. Live it. 🔥

I filmed this on Feb 10, 2021, after our interview. We met again later at a show, and ISSAY offered me a drink. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized it had been his birthday. I still feel bad about it. But looking back, it says so much about who he was — a kind person.

Digging through our archives, we found a little treasure: ISSAY & HIKARU from DER ZIBET during a VMJ photoshoot after our interview with them.

Tomorrow marks three years since ISSAY’s passing.

Rest well. 🕊️

If you’d like to revisit his words, our interview with DER ZIBET is
