Immerse yourself in the dynamic world of MERRY’s Lamb Fest, where talented bands come together to create an unforgettable musical experience. From the powerful vocals of lynch. to the energetic stage presence of MUCC, this festival is a must-see for any music enthusiast.
On November 5th, the Lamb Fest inauguration took place at the Stellar Ball Shinagawa in Tokyo, a venue with a capacity of approximately 2000 people. This highly anticipated two-day festival, founded by MERRY, served as a grand celebration of the Japanese quintet’s 14th anniversary. Fans and music enthusiasts gathered to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere and revel in the performances of some of Japan’s most talented bands. The first day of the festival featured an impressive lineup of artists, including Su-Xing-Cyu, Kuroneko Chelsea, LIPHLICH, lynch., and MUCC. Each band was given a special boost as one of the members of MERRY joined them on stage. The charismatic frontman, Gara, showcased his vocal prowess by performing a captivating duet with lynch., while the talented guitarist, Yuu, lent his skills to MUCC.
The performances throughout the evening were met with resounding applause and admiration from the audience. The venue’s layout, designed to prioritize width over depth, contributed to an immersive sonic experience. The bass and drums reverberated with a pleasing intensity, while the stage remained clearly visible from any vantage point in the pit. The concertgoers were treated to a feast for both the ears and the eyes, regardless of their position in the crowd.
As the night progressed, the energy levels soared, reaching a crescendo during the performances of lynch. and MUCC. Tatsuro, the dynamic vocalist of MUCC, skillfully commanded the stage, captivating the audience with his magnetic presence. He engaged in crowd interactions, passionately advocating for MERRY, and orchestrating multiple crowd surfing moments. The atmosphere was electric, and the crowd responded with fervor. This evening held an additional layer of significance as it coincided with the birthday of MUCC’s bassist, Yukke. The celebration took an unexpected turn when the surprise cake ended up adorning his face, much to the delight of the crowd. The anticipation in the pit grew as MERRY, the festival’s founders, prepared to take the stage. The band, visibly thrilled to be in the spotlight, delivered a meticulously crafted, theatrical, and high-energy performance. The drummer’s frenetic beats and frequent microphone interactions, combined with the singer’s Dionysian stage presence and sensually explicit movements, created an intoxicating atmosphere. Despite the absence of one member, MERRY’s bassist Testu, who joined the band during the encore, the band’s performance remained captivating. Testu, despite his physical limitations, adapted his stage presence, positioning himself closer to the audience, at the very edge of the stage. The set, already relatively short, concluded with the same powerful song that opened the show: Chiyoda-sen Democracy. For the second round, MERRY was joined on stage by a multitude of guests who were featured in the music video for the song, including DADA from VELVET EDEN. Additionally, all the groups that had performed earlier in the evening joined MERRY on stage, creating a truly unforgettable collaborative finale.
