D’ERLANGER’s tour finale: a dazzling testament to 3 decades of musical mastery and unwavering reputation.

D’ERLANGER concluded their tour, “Rosy Moments 4D Premiere 2023” with a finale show at Shibuya Veats on November 23d. The tour was in support of their 10th studio album, “Rosy Moments 4D” which was released on September 13. The venue packed with fans eagerly anticipating the start of the concert, creating an electric atmosphere even before the performance began.
At 5:00 PM, as the band members took to the stage, starting with drummer Tetsu and bassist SEELA, followed by the guitarist CIPHER and vocalist kyo, the excitement in the venue reached a fever pitch. In a dynamic of display of camaraderie and unity, kyo fist-pumped his fellow musicians – as a symbolic transfer of energy, fueling their collective performance. His blonde hair and nude, airy velvet clothing contrasted with the other members of D’ERLANGER who were dressed in black from head to toe. As the show began, it was apparent that the live music pulsated with a rhythm and groove far surpassing that of its recorded counterpart. The setlist included a mix of mellow and upbeat songs, each one bewitching the audience in its own way. “ZAKURO” had the crowd throwing their hands in the air to the rhythm, while the powerful hits from drummer Tetsu had even the roadie headbanging. Guitarist CIPHER, with his nonchalant charisma, nodded his head and tapped his feet, seemingly holding himself back from letting go during “Missing Piece”. Bassist SEELA’s playing was particularly nifty, adding extra groove and thickness, enhancing the overall live sound. His fingers danced on the strings, creating deep, resonant notes that served as the backbone of D’ERLANGER’s sound. With a voice that hit every note flawlessly, lead vocalist kyo took center stage, demonstrating not just his vocal skills but also his great showmanship. Engaging with the audience on multiple occasions, kyo’s charisma was palpable. Taking a moment to address his, kyo requested the audience to illuminate their concert lights, a sight that he expressed brought him immense joy. He also spoke about the band’s new album, “Rosy Moments 4D”, and their ongoing tour. His words were filled with gratitude, thanking the fans for their unwavering support and encouraging them to continue singing along, as they had been doing throughout the tour.
After a short break, D’ERLANGER returned to the stage with an upbeat, groovy song “Another Skin”. After a while, the musicians played facing each other, creating a sense of unity and camaraderie. The tension in the audience continued to rise as kyo encouraged more screams and cheers from the fans. At one point, vocalist kyo knelt before guitarist CIPHER, placing his hand on the musician’s heart as he sang. Towards the end of the concert, kyo promised that the band would embark on a more extensive tour across Japan next year, much to the delight of the audience. The concert concluded on a nostalgic note with “Bitter Sweet” and a final song “Aibu” that showcased the band’s rich sound and the individual talents of each musician. As the band left the stage, the audience erupted in screams and applause. The drummer, Tetsu, drenched in sweat, threw a few drumsticks into the crowd as a parting gift.
The concert was a dazzling display of musical expertise, a powerful affirmation of D’ERLANGER’s reputation. The sound was particularly striking, with a rhythmic groove that had the audience moving in harmony. Throughout the live, it was unmistakably clear that the band has left an indelible mark on the music industry, serving as a significant source of inspiration for the generation of bands that followed them. Should the chance arise, do not miss the opportunity to witness D’ERLANGER’s electrifying performance in person.
