Far-East Phallus Kicker | Live-Report @ Flowers Loft, Tokyo [JP] (2024)

The date of May 20th (2024) marked a special occasion at Flowers Loft as fans gathered to celebrate the release of Far-East Phallus Kicker’s very first album, META-ROMAN-SONIC. While the general public will have to wait until June 9th to purchase the album, lucky attendees were treated to an exclusive live performance by the band and the possibility to buy the album.
The concert began at 8 PM with a palpable excitement. The venue buzzed with anticipation as the band’s opening theme set the mood, reminiscent of a Quentin Tarantino’s film signature. As the lights dimmed, the band members assumed their positions on stage, poised to unleash their distinctive brand of Rock N Roll energy mixed with tints of New-Wave & Post-Punk from the UK. Vocalist Chu-ya commanded the stage with youthful exuberance, fulfilling his promise to reclaim his youth from his 60th birthday onwards. Bassist ERY delivered a dynamic performance, her infectious energy radiating as she rocked out behind her instrument. Drummer Reiko provided a solid foundation with her powerful beats propelling the songs forward. Guitarist and composer Hideki exuded a cool and edgy demeanor on stage, adorned with sunglasses and delivering precise riffs effortlessly. Together, they crafted a unique blend of Rock N Roll, infused with American rockabilly vibes alongside a distinct Japanese essence, old and new. The concert reached its climax during the performance of Dead Road, a standout track from the quartet. With its addictive bass line and powerful drumming, the song took the audience by storm, leaving them hungry for more. As the night drew to a close, it was evident that these phallus-kickers from the far-east had solidified their position as a hot presence in the underground scene. With five years of experience under their belt, the band showed no signs of slowing down.
